Visiting Volunteers Program for Seniors

Our mission is to serve our local community by providing support to senior citizens. As part of our community outreach, we have developed a strong Social Service Program specifically directed toward senior citizens residing in nursing homes and elderly living facilities. Over the years, we have come to recognize a unique group within this population, seniors who are isolated, often without family or close friends, to visit or support them. Through this program, our goal is to become a family to them, offering companionship, care, and encouragement.

The primary objective of the Visiting Volunteers Program is to combat loneliness and social isolation among residents in nursing and private homes. We focus on seniors who may not have relatives or regular visitors. To meet this goal, we have structured the program around small “Friendship Units,” each consisting of two youths and one adult volunteer assigned to a senior. These friendship units engage in consistent, meaningful interactions designed to foster relationships, trust, and joy.

Program Components include:

  • Regular weekly visits
  • Celebrations of Life (Birthdays)
  • Holiday celebrations
  • (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc.)
  • Outing and Excursion Days
  • Lifetime Memoirs (helping seniors tell and record their stories)
  • Computer Education for Seniors
  • Shopping and Mall Visits

It is our hope to register interested seniors from your facility to participate in this program. We respectfully request a letter of acceptance from your administration, indicating a suitable number of residents who, in your judgment, would benefit from the companionship and social enrichment our volunteers provide.

Additionally, we fully understand and will comply with any screening or background checks your facility may require for our volunteers. We are committed to ensuring that our program aligns with your safety standards and operational policies.

We would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with you or your staff to further discuss how this partnership can positively impact your residents.

Thank you for considering our request and for the exceptional work you continue to do in caring for our community’s seniors.
